Testimonials

Drivers like Mr. Ram Singh in Birmingham have been using the CabCard System for a few months now. He says “There are always customers who prefer to use their card. I find the facility as very positive addition to my business. We used to have card machines which operated over the radio system but that had area restrictions. As the Cabcard system operates via GPRS there are no restrictions."

John Maguire from Manchester is very pleased with the system. “It is easy to use and gives the fast service that my business customers are looking for.” He only wishes that more of the hotels would promote the benefits of chip & PIN in taxis to their customers.

London driver, Wayne Sumner reported to us that he is “finding the system very helpful. I recently got a Luton Airport job from the City that I know I would have missed without CabCard.”

Another London driver Barry Lee who works in Central London commented “from the drivers point of view the system is very quick and easy and my money comes swiftly into the bank. The CabCard office staff are very efficient and friendly if I ever have an enquiry.”

Liverpool cabbie Paul Bannin said thanks to CabCard - he recently got a fare from Liverpool to Heathrow airport, at £360! Paul said when he got the Heathrow job, he was eighth in line and got the fare because no one else could take cards. “He asked all the ones ahead first. All of a sudden I heard them all talking. I said: 'I take cards!'” The Norwegian, who was drunk, slept the whole way to Heathrow. After that long job, Paul could afford to take some time off and said he “went out on the beer” himself! Paul has been using CabCard for the last few months. He said: “It's a good system, people ask for it.”

Paul King, who has been a cabbie in Birmingham for 36 years, said he finds CabCard is “excellent” particularly for his corporate customers. “People using corporate cards do not bat an eyelid when you say there's a charge.” He speaks very highly of CabCard and said: “It's very easy, there's no mess, you can see the buttons quickly and away you go. It's perfect.” He has had no problem with the GPRS coverage – except once, when he just drove around the corner to get a signal and “it was fine”.

Andy Lennon is pleased he has CabCard because it gives him another option so increasing the number of customers he can take. A cabbie for just over a year, he has had experience of being unable to take customers because they couldn't pay by card - this is no longer a problem. CabCard has also got him out of the rank earlier on at least one occasion so far – always an advantage in the cabbie's life where time is money. “I had been in line at Liverpool Street Station for 10 minutes and this guy needed to pay by card, he took me because of CabCard and I got out of the rank more quickly.”

A lot of Manchester cabbie Stephen Lonergan's work is at Manchester airport and hotels, and he finds having CabCard increases the number of corporate customers he gets because they prefer to pay by card. He said that CabCard also helps if customers want to hire the cab for longer distances.
